MCHENRY (AP) — The Garrett County Sheriff’s Office said a skier has been killed in an accident at the Wisp ski resort.
James Jung-Jin Park, 40, of Rockville lost control and ran into trees while skiing Saturday morning with two friends. Authorities said the Rockville man was pronounced dead at Garrett County Memorial Hospital.
The sheriff’s office said the accident occurred on a ski-run known as the Squirrel Cage.
The resort announced in December that it had emerged from bankruptcy protection under a new management firm.
The previous owners filed for bankruptcy protection after defaulting on loans to build a golf course community near the ski hill. That project was sold to another party during bankruptcy proceedings.

The Big One: Preparing for major mid-America earthquake
It’s a bleak scenario. A massive earthquake along the New Madrid fault kills or injures 60,000 people in Tennessee. A quarter of a million people are homeless. The Memphis airport — the country’s biggest air terminal for packages — goes off-line. Major oil and gas pipelines across Tennessee rupture, causing shortages in the Northeast.

The Korean War is often called “The Forgotten War.” My generation remembers the Battle for LZ X-Ray at Ia Drang, The Tet Offensive, and Khe Sahn of the Vietnam War.
