ACM Women Win

Trojans shut down Westmoreland

CUMBERLAND - Allegany College of Maryland applied the clamps on defense, allowing Westmoreland Community College just eight field goals in a 74-35 win in Bob Kirk Arena Monday evening.

After opening a 43-21 lead by halftime, the Trojans tightened up even more by allowing just 13 points in the second half.

ACM coach Jerry Rice was pleased with his team's defensive effort.

"It wasn't a very pretty game, but it's nice to get the win and be back home," he said. The Trojans hadn't played at home since their opening game against CCAC-Allegheny Nov. 7.

Rice added, "We didn't shoot well, but the girls played defense. We went out and we were able to play with intensity, especially in the second half."

Former Beall standout Kacey Kahl had a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds, as well as seven steals.

Jasmine Blanks also poured in 16 points, and Jennifer Willis added 10. Blanks finished with six assists and six steals.

Jess Lint led Westmoreland with 13 points.

Allegany remains undefeated at 4-0. The Trojans will play next on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Hagerstown, 6 p.m., in their first Maryland JUCO Conference game of the season.
