ACM Women Win Debut

From Staff Reports

CUMBERLAND - Allegany College got its season started with an eruption of offense in a 95-33 rout of visiting CCAC-Allegheny in college women's basketball Wednesday night at Bob Kirk Arena.

Four Trojans scored in double digits, and two others were a bucket away from joining them in the win. Melissa Ford led the team with 20 points, as well as eight rebounds and six steals, and Kacey Kahl added 16 points, seven rebounds and four steals. DeeDee Reese scored 12 points and dished out six assists, and Lindsay Holliday added 11 points. Jennifer Willis had nine points and Alicia Sheppard eight.

"It was a good start for us," said ACM head coach Jerry Rice. "We wanted to get going early, and even with Allegheny being outmaned I think the girls kept playing and kept doing what they needed to. I was pleased with the effort, and glad everybody got to share in the moment."

Kristen Beatty led CCAC-Allegheny with 17 points.

The Trojans will play at home on Wednesday, 7 p.m., against Harrisburg Area Community College.
