ARNOLD — Kim Jones scored 17 points and hauled in 10 rebounds to power Allegany College to a 79-47 romp over Anne Arundel in a Maryland JUCO Conference women’s basketball game Monday evening.
The Trojans, ranked No. 17 in the latest Junior College Division II national poll, improved to 17-3 overall and 9-1 in the conference.
Allegany, up 35-28 at halftime, dominated the second half, outscoring the Pioneers 44-19.
Larae Allen, like Jones, had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Ashleigh Fossett hit three 3-point goals and had 12 points, Dakeea Marshall had nine points and Detonia DeGross six points and five assists.
Jaclyn Nucci had 16 points and Ashley Wagner 14 for Anne Arundel.
The Trojans will host Howard on Saturday at 4:45.
Potomac State 92, Butler 42
KEYSER, W.Va. — Four players scored in double figures to lead Potomac State to another Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference win, keeping the Catamounts undefeated Monday at the expense of Butler Community College at Lough Gymnasium.
Breanna Wright led all PSC scorers with 19 points, while Cheslea Holcomb scored 16, Brittany Skyles 14, and Aisha Short 10. Short also collected nine rebounds.
Butler was led by Ashley Campbell with 23 points.
Potomac State led at the half, 47-19.
The Catamounts (14-7 overall, 8-0 WPCC) will host Westmoreland Wednesday.
FSU’s James player of week
GIBSONIA, Pa. — Frostburg State senior Brittany James, who averaged 23 points and 17.5 rebounds in two wins, was named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Week.
James scored 20 points and had 13 rebounds in a 73-69 victory over Penn State Altoona. She had 26 points and 22 rebounds in posting her eighth double-double of the season in a 75-61 win at Penn State Behrend.
James is second in the conference in field goal percentage (.533) and fourth in scoring (16.2 per game) and rebounds (10.1).
Frostburg State plays at La Roche Wednesday night.
