YOUNGWOOD, Pa. — Pulling away from the foul line late in the second half, Westmoreland denied Potomac State its fourth straight Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference Tournament title with a 61-49 win over the Catamounts Saturday in the championship finals.
Laura McCauley finished with a game-high 18 points, and Jamie Henry scored 16 points for the Wolfpack. Nicole Tizzola contributed with 11.
Westmoreland, the No. 1 seed in the tournament, led from start to finish, but were never ahead by more than seven points until the final four minutes when Potomac State began fouling.
The Catamounts were paced by Brittany Skyles and Aisha Short with 10 points each, with Short also getting five steals. Tae Payton scored nine points and added four assists, while Chelsea Holcomb had five rebounds and four points.
Potomac State concludes the regular season with a 15-9 record, and awaits a possible berth in the Region XX Tournament in a few weeks.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Mameyaa Ankoma-Mensa made just one basket the entire contest but it proved to be the game-winner as her layup with 28 seconds left helped lift Medaille to a 67-63 victory over Frostburg State in women’s college basketball on Saturday.
Frostburg’s Lisa Byer hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at 63 with 37 seconds remaining, but Mensa’s layup followed by a pair of Kacie Mills free throws with 12 seconds left gave the Mavericks (21-2, 18-0) their 11th straight win. Medaille clinched the AMCC regular-season championship with the win.
Despite the Mavericks leading by double digits in the first half, the game was close as they tied nine times, including six times in the second period. The lead also changed four times. Byer hit a 3-pointer with 1:47 left that gave the Bobcats (15-6, 12-4) their final lead at 60-59.
Amanda Sahar led Medaille with 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting and nine rebounds while Mills added 15 points and five assists. Byer led FSU with 15 points and was 5-of-12 from 3-point range. Jackie Kimmel added 15 points and was a 4-of-4 from the 3-point arc.
Frostburg State plays at Franciscan on Monday at 6 p.m.

MCHENRY — Ten players scored and Janay Collins led the way with a double-double as Garrett ended its regular-season with a rout of Cecil.
Collins scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Lakers (8-7), while Kyara Davis added 12 points and six steals and Alice Abiya eight points and 11 rebounds.
Candace Thrance pulled in a game-high 11 rebounds, Tashara Van Alstyne dished out nine assists, Marcia Bogan had six assists and Tyeshia Briscoe five steals for Garrett.
The Lakers will play again in the Maryland JUCO Tournament. The tournament seedings will be announced today.
