Martha Loretta McKenzie [Frostburg]

February 17, 2010 — FROSTBURG — Martha Loretta McKenzie, 100, of Frostburg, passed away Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, at the Lions Center for Rehabilitation and Extended Care.

Born April 22, 1909, in Paw Paw, W.Va., Mrs. McKenzie was the daughter of the late Thomas Joseph Larkin and Catherine Ellen (Shives) Larkin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond V. McKenzie, on July 1, 1954; three sisters, Margaret Matthews, Edythe Blake, and Eva Smith; three brothers, William, Bernard, and Raymond Larkin; and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

A homemaker, Martha was a graduate of Paw Paw High School and Catherman’s Business School.  She was a member of Saint Michael's Catholic Church. She was employed as secretary in the office of the late Dr. G.C. Blake in Cumberland.

On April 22, 2009, Martha celebrated her 100th birthday with her family and friends. 

Martha was a loving mother, grandmother, and aunt.  She is survived by her son, Terrence McKenzie and his wife Sandra, of Frostburg; her daughter, Patricia Ellen McNeer and her husband James, of Salt Lake City, Utah; her granddaughters, Lisa Gold and her husband Kim, and Leigh Wright and her husband Bobby, all of Salt Lake City, Utah; her great-granddaughters, Carmaen Gold, Alexandria Wright, and Amelia Wright; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. 

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, from noon to 2 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at 2 p.m. with Deacon Fred Passauer officiating.

Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
