BALTIMORE — On Oct. 10, 2010, Cindy Lynn George and Jason Michael Layman were united in marriage among their closest family and friends. The double ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Mark Waddell at Catonsville United Methodist Church in Baltimore, Maryland.
The bride is the daughter of John and Carol George, LaVale. She is the granddaughter of Mary McKenzie, Frostburg and the late Elmer McKenzie, and the late Robert and Jean George.
The groom is the son of Pamela Layman, Cresaptown. He is the grandson of the late Richard “Dick” and Helen Briner.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted down the aisle by her father, the bride wore a Mori Lee gown. The embroidered Duchess Satin, halter-style gown was decorated with embroidery and beading and was trimmed at the empire-waist and hemline with bands of royal blue satin. The corset-tie back met a full panel inset of royal blue satin that continued on to the chapel length train. Opting out of the traditional veil, the bride chose to wear a crystal and antiqued hair barrette given to her by the groom. The bride wore John Fluevog hand-embroidered ivory shoes with blue music notes on the soles. She carried a bouquet of wildflowers, roses and peacock feathers with butterfly and dragonfly charms.
Serving as the maid of honor was Grace Ho, best friend of the bride. Bridesmaids included Lynn LaMartina, friend of bride, and Lindsay Todd, friend of bride. They were outfitted in georgette chiffon A-lined halter dresses with beaded and embroidered waists, by Alexia Designs, and carried smaller bouquets similar to the bride.
Serving as the best man was John Briner, brother of the groom. Groomsmen included JR Huestis, friend of groom, and Willie Fields, friend of groom. They were outfitted in Calvin Klein black tuxedos with silver vests and ties.
Aaliyah Storer, daughter of groom, and Alana Wooden, goddaughter of bride, served as flower girls. Aaliyah carried a basket of flowers that matched the bride’s bouquet, while Alana carried a single rose in remembrance of family members who have passed away.
Julie Diehl, sister of the bride, tended the guest book. John Diehl, nephew of bride, and Natalie Diehl, niece of bride, attended bulletins and bubbles. Brian Diehl, brother-in-law of bride, recorded the ceremony.
The ceremony music was provided by Donald Fries, organist.
A reception immediately followed at Arbutus Fire Hall. Charm City Caterers prepared the buffet-style dinner.
The custom created three-tier cake was designed by the bride and prepared by Charm City Cakes, AKA “Ace of Cakes.” The top tier was a traditional basket weave design featuring sugar flowers, a butterfly and dragonfly motif and was a blackberry sour cream cake with a strawberry shortcake icing. The raised middle tier had a black, blue and purple diamond design with silver beading and was a pumpkin spice cake with cinnamon icing. The bottom layer featured a scene from Mortal Kombat, with two characters from the game serving as the bride and groom and it was a banana foster cake with caramel and banana icing.
Cindy and Jason, danced their first dance to “Dreaming My Dreams” by the Cranberries. The bride and her father shared a dance to “Daddy Let’s Dance” by Jamie Tate, and the groom and his mother danced to “Beautiful Boy” by John Lennon. The music was provided by Danny Carr, DJ, friend of the groom.
LaRaine Cheung, friend of bride served as the wedding coordinator.
Photography was provided by Joleen Byrd, CU Photography, Virginia. A special thanks is given to friends of the bride and her parents, Linda Morton, for the beautiful floral arrangements and decorations, and Ronald Morton, for the blessing before the reception meal.
For their honeymoon, Cindy and Jason enjoyed a week-long cruise to Europe. The couple enjoyed many excursions in Barcelona, Spain; Naples, Rome, Florence and Pisa, Italy; as well as Nice, Monaco and St. Tropez, France.
The couple would like to thank family and friends for sharing in their special day, especially everyone who travelled several hours to the ceremony.
Cindy is currently employed as a senior budget analyst at the Social Security Administration.
Jason is currently employed as a billing specialist at Quest Diagnostics.
The couple continues to reside in their home in Baltimore.
