BEDFORD, Pa. — One year ago today, Aug. 7, 2010, Ashley Nicole Sponaugle and Andrew Joseph McKenzie were united in marriage at an outdoor wedding at Friendship Village on a beautiful sunny day. Pastor Danny Leister officiated the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Dennis and Cheryl Sponaugle, Wiley Ford, W.Va. She is the granddaughter of the late Wanda Sublett, Wiley Ford, and the late Eugene and Linda Smith, Cumberland.
The groom is the son of Ron and Diane Crowe, Cumberland. He is the grandson of DeSales and Mary Keifer, Cumberland, and Doris Crowe, Cumberland.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted down the aisle by her father, the bride wore a gorgeous strapless sweetheart neckline A-line gown with a cathedral train and adorned with a metallic embroidered bodice. She wore a matching white crystal beaded veil. The bride carried a bouquet of white roses accented with lilies, purple hydrangea and dancing orchids. Her jewelry included a freshwater pearl and Austrian crystal necklace and a pair of diamond earrings, a gift from the groom.
Serving as matron of honor was Miranda Sponaugle, sister-in-law of the bride. Bridesmaids were Crystal Miller and Lori Dayton, friends of the bride. Each of the bridesmaids wore individually styled designer gowns of a soft orchid color and a freshwater pearl necklace with matching earrings, a gift from the bride. The bridesmaids all carried bouquets matching that of the bride and designed by Loving Touch, Bedford. Madison Sponaugle, niece of the bride, served as flower girl.
The groom wore a black Perry Ellis tuxedo with a silver vest. Chad Greise served as best man. Groomsmen were Matt Sponaugle and Mike Crowe. Each of the groomsmen wore black tuxes with orchid vests. Kaiden McKenzie, son of the bride and groom, served as ring bearer and wore a black tux matching that of the groom. He carried a handmade satin pillow with the couple’s rings.
DacRon Powell and David Cole, nephews of the bride, served as attendants.
Serving as pianist for the ceremony was Felicia McKenzie, sister of the groom. Josh Puffenbarger captured the day’s moments as they unfolded.
The reception was held immediately following the ceremony. A buffet-style dinner was provided by Snappy Chef of Altoona. The three-tier wedding cake was white cake adorned with mini roses and orchid ribbon and also was provided by Snappy Chef and created by Chef Terry.
The disc jockey was “Trucker” from WFRB Radio. The couple shared their first dance to “From this Moment On” by Shania Twain, followed by a father and daughter dance to “I Loved Her First” by Heartland and a mother and son dance to “The Perfect Fan” by the Backstreet Boys.
Toasts and speeches were given by Miranda Sponaugle and Chad Greise.
Ashley is a 2002 graduate of Frankfort High School and attended Allegany College of Maryland. She is currently employed by the Motor Vehicle Administration.
Andrew is a 2002 graduate of Fort Hill High School and attended Allegany College of Maryland. He is currently employed by CSX.
Andrew and Ashley currently reside in Cumberland. The couple would like to thank their parents, family and friends for helping make their wedding day so remarkable

Robert Jeffrey Bonser and Rebecca Kathleen Mathews were united in marriage Sept. 3, 2012 in an outdoor ceremony at the Hayloft in Rockwood. The groom’s father, Pastor Robert Bonser, presided over the double ring ceremony and delivered a message from Genesis 2:15-25 entitled “A Bond of Grace.”

On Oct. 15, 2011, Amber Corinne Bailey and Tyler Patrick Larkin were united in marriage in front of family and friends. The double ring ceremony took place at Centre Street United Methodist Church, which was the church of the bride’s childhood. The Rev. Ann W. Abbey Alexandra Bond and Cpl. Braxten Ray Brodie were united in marriage on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at Ridgeview Valley in McHenry. The outdoor, double ring ceremony was officiated by Shon Brodie, uncle of the groom. A retired sergeant major of the United States Marine Corps, Shon serves as a bishop in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fredericksburg, Va.

The outdoor ceremony took place on a sunny autumn afternoon along the scenic Potomac River at Bond’s Landing in Green Ridge State Forest.
