FROSTBURG — Christopher Daniel McKenzie and Allison Diane Malone were united in marriage on Oct. 2, 2010. The double ring ceremony took place at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Daniel Agnew officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Beverly Malone Hoopengardner and the late Gerald “Jerry” L. Malone, and the stepdaughter of Elmer Hoopengardner, of Finzel. She is the granddaughter of Corlista “Pat” Crowe and the late Wilfred D. Crowe and the late Van and Dorothy Malone of Finzel.
The groom is the son of Cheryl McKenzie of Finzel and Danny McKenzie of Pocahontas, Pa. He is the grandson of Raymond and Mary Minnick of Frostburg and Francis “Dick” and May McKenzie of Finzel.
The bride was given in marriage by her mother, Beverly, and brothers, Jason and Clint Malone, who also escorted her to the altar. Allison’s dress was a strapless A-line, ivory taffeta gown with crystal beading on the bodice. The skirt had appliqued pick-ups accented by crystal beads, which continued to the end of the cathedral train. Allison wore an elbow-length veil that was enhanced by crystal beads on the scalloped edges. The bride wore diamond earrings that were a gift from the groom. She also wore her great-grandmother’s pearl necklace. In memory of the bride’s father, an angel pin was given and pinned to her gown by bridesmaid Rosie Deal. The bride carried a bouquet of hot pink stargazer lilies, white calla lilies, and pink roses with baby’s breath. Diana Agnew created all the bouquets, as well as the floral arrangements.
Cora Langan and Katie McKenzie served as maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Lindsey Glotfelty, Erica Rowley, Krysten McKenzie, Rosie Deal, Lindsay Bittner, Jina Malone and Amy Malone. Each attendant wore a black taffeta strapless dress with an ivory sash. They carried bouquets of hot pink roses and white delphinium flowers.
The groom was dressed in a black tux with a white vest and the groomsmen wore matching black tuxes with black vests. Ty Wiland and Andrew Minnick served as best men. Groomsmen were the late Josh McKenzie, Corey Arnold, Matt Rowley, Nick Wiland, Josh Bittner, Jason Malone and Clint Malone.
The flower girls, Alysa Langan and Abigail Malone, were dressed in adorable pink and white dresses. Ring bearers, Jonathan and David Malone, wore cute black pants, white shirts, and black and silver vests.
The ceremony organist was Patty Rice and soloist was Mallory Smith. Program attendants were Haley and Austin McKenzie. Photographer was Mary Minnick, grandmother of the groom.
After the ceremony, Clint Malone chauffeured the couple in his royal blue 1966 Chevelle convertible to the reception at the Eastern Garrett Fire Hall. The bride chose the colors black and hot pink to honor the memory of her late brother, Chad M. Malone, who drove a black truck with a hot pink snow plow. Judy and Julie McKenzie and Jina Malone created a beautiful large congratulatory mural, which decorated the front of the hall. Perry Kamp provided the entertainment. Thereafter, Ty Wiland, Andrew Minnick, Cora Langan and Lindsey Glotfelty each gave a wonderful toast before a buffet dinner was served.
Many friends and family members of the bride and groom helped prepare the meal. A special thanks to Sharon Malone, Stacey Malone, Jill Rowley, Wilma Klink, Pam Harris, Pat Crowe, Vera Mullaney, Lyla Holliday, Jim Langan, Philip Carter, Shaun Broadwater and Dave, Cinda and Sarah Wiland for all their assistance. Also thanks to Darren Klink and Jason Malone for preparing the roasted pork. The four-tier wedding cake was decorated with black ribbon and hot pink roses done by Bonnie Goebel. Natalie Carr and Bonnie Langan served the cake. Bonnie Langan also prepared other beautiful desserts and dinner rolls for the reception.
The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s mother, Cheryl McKenzie, and assisted by Dave and Cinda Wiland. Cora Langan honored the bride with a bridal shower at Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Katie McKenzie hosted a bachelorette party for the bride at her home. The groomsmen also provided a bachelor’s party for Chris.
Chris and Allie enjoyed their honeymoon at Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, and Virginia Beach, Va. The couple now resides in Finzel.
A special thanks to the mother of the bride, Beverly, for helping the couple make the wedding very beautiful and memorable. To everybody else who attended, showered us with gifts, and helped us start our lives together — thank you and we love you all.
