Beem, Hager wedding

FROSTBURG — Alexandra Simonne Hager and Thomas Patrick Beem Jr. were united in marriage one year ago today, Aug. 30, 2008, in an outdoor double ring ceremony that took place on the 10th tee of the Maplehurst Country Club golf course with the Rev. Richard C. Broome Jr. officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Paulette Hager and Frank Hager, both of Cumberland. The mother of the bride was escorted by her grandson, Kyle Dwinnells. Grandparents of the bride are Marie Eck and the late Paul Eck of Mahanoy City, Pa., and Elsie Hager and the late Frank Hager of Jim Thorpe, Pa.

The groom is the son of Diane and Thomas Beem Sr. of Bel Air. The mother of the groom was escorted by her son, Kevin Beem. Grandparents of the groom are John and Helen Furstenburg of LaVale and Rosemary Beem and the late Clarence Beem of California.

The bride was given away in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father. The bride wore a strapless, A-line white floor-length gown with a beaded veil given to her by her sister, Danielle. She carried a bouquet of large white calla lilies. The groom wore a black Ralph Lauren tuxedo with a white vest and white calla lily boutonniere.

Serving as matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Danielle Dwinnells. Bridesmaids were Danielle Bowers and Leah Doyle, friends of the bride. They wore matching strapless latte floor-length gowns and carried bouquets of wine colored calla lilies.

Father of the groom, Thomas Beem Sr., served as best man. Groomsmen were Lars Hosford and Daniel Doyle, friends of the groom. They wore black Ralph Lauren tuxedoes with latte vests and wine calla lily boutonnieres to complement the matron of honor’s and bridesmaids’ dresses.

The flower girl, Adrienne Payne, friend of the bride, wore a tea-length latte dress with cap sleeves and held a white satin basket with wine rose petals. The ring bearer, Kyle Dwinnells, nephew of the bride, wore a tuxedo matching the groomsmen with a black top hat.

Music during the ceremony was provided by vocalist, Jason Bearinger on guitar; Chris McMahon, percussion; Todd Vogtmann, bass guitar; Michael Wagler, keyboard; and Don Ward, lead guitar. Jason sang “At Last” by Etta James as the bride walked down the aisle. He also sang a musical solo during the ceremony, “Bless the Broken Road,” by Rascal Flatts. Jon Heller, friend of the bride, read the Scripture as part of the ceremony. The ceremony concluded with Jason singing, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” by Stevie Wonder as the couple walked down the aisle, now husband and wife.

A cocktail hour followed the ceremony at the Maplehurst Country Club. Music for the reception was provided by Sounds Fun Entertainment with Jonny Rock. Blessings for the newly wed couple and for the food were given by the Rev. Broome. Lars Hosford, friend of the groom, and Danielle Dwinnells, sister of the bride, toasted the couple. A dinner buffet was provided by Orchid Owl Catering. The wedding cake was designed and prepared by Bonnie Wilson. It was a four-tiered square cake made to appear like a group of packages. Several individual cakes also adorned the table, all with various package designs. Table decorations remained with a package theme that included large, square glass with twinkle lights and latte and wine ribbons. Favors were white boxes containing personalized mint tins and also decorated with ribbons to stay with the package theme. Decorations throughout the ballroom were created and displayed by Dora Kelly and Barbara Fisher. The photographer was Stan Eisel.

The couple danced their first dance to “When I Fall in Love” by Nat King Cole. The bride danced with her father, and then her mother, to Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World.” The groom danced with his mother to the same song.

The couple honeymooned touring the Mediterranean, including a 12-day cruise to Spain, Morocco and Portugal.

A bridal shower was held in honor of the bride at the fellowship hall at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Cumberland. A couple’s shower was held in Baltimore at the home of Leah and Daniel Doyle. The bride was also honored at a shower held at Future Care Health and Management in Baltimore. The rehearsal dinner was arranged by the groom and was held at the Maplehurst Country Club.

The bride is a 1999 graduate of Fort Hill High School. She earned her bachelor of science degree in health sciences in 2003 and masters of physical therapy in 2004 from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pa. She is presently pursuing her doctorate in physical therapy from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Va. She is currently working for Future Care Health and Management in Baltimore and was awarded the Ancillary Employee Service Award for the Health Facilities Association of Maryland in 2008.
