LAVALE— One year ago, July 10, 2010 at 2 p.m., Andrew Wayne Dawson and Melissa Ann Bailey were united in marriage. The double ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Bernadette Ross at LaVale United Methodist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Darrel and Carolyn Bailey of Cumberland. She is the granddaughter of the late Bill Sr. and Edna Fisher of Cumberland and the late Wayne and Roxie Roach of Lonaconing.
The groom is the son of Harvey and Phyllis Sites of Short Gap, W.Va., and the late Jimmy Dawson Jr. of Rawlings. He is the grandson of Darlene Dawson and the late James Dawson Sr. of Rawlings.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted down the aisle by her father and her son, Dakota Westfall, the bride wore a white strapless A-line gown by Mary’s, featuring flowers and a beaded lace bodice extending to a chapel-length train. A crystal tiara held a waist-length veil. The bride’s accessories consisted of a gold heart-shaped necklace holding the diamond from her grandmother’s ring, given to her by her loving Pappy Wayne and worn as a memorial for having them there on her special day. The bride also wore earrings from the groom’s Nannie. She carried a bouquet of pink, white and black roses with baby’s breath flowing throughout.
Serving as maid of honor was the bride’s best friend, Alicia Cartwright. Bridemaids were Denise Sacchetti, sister of the bride; Brittany Carl, niece of the bride; and Shawna Sites, sister of the groom. Each bridesmaid wore a floor-length strapless pink satin gown and carried a bouquet of pink, white and black roses. Flower girl was Megan Brode, cousin of the bride.
The groom wore a traditional black tuxedo with a white vest and white tie and a single white rose boutonniere.
Serving as best man was Harvey Sites, stepfather of the groom. Groomsmen were Shayon Dawson, brother of the groom; Quade Blizzard, cousin of the groom; and Leroy King, brother of the bride. Each groomsman wore a traditional black tuxedo with black vest and black tie with a single white rose boutonniere. Ring bearer was Dakota Westfall, son of the bride, who wore a tux matching the groom’s.
The guest book and wedding programs were attended by Brandy Ritchey, cousin of the bride. Decorations for the church were made by Carolyn Bailey, mother of the bride, and Tina Preston, cousin of the bride.
A reception followed in Short Gap, W.Va., at the home of the groom’s parents. Entertainment was provided by a disc jockey. A buffet-style dinner was made by a friend of the groom’s family and a pig roast made by the groom’s stepfather. The bride and groom had a custom four-tier wedding cake made by Linda Hardman, aunt of the bride. Missy and Andy danced their first dance as husband and wife to “All My Life” by K-Ci and JoJo and dedicated to the groom from his bride. The couple later danced their second dance together to “I Don’t Want to Miss A Thing” by Aerosmith and dedicated to the bride by her groom. The bride danced the father-daughter dance with her father to “I Loved Her First” by Heartland. The bride danced with her son, Dakota, to “How Do I Live Without You” by Leann Rimes.

Bonser-Mathews vows exchanged at Hayloft
Robert Jeffrey Bonser and Rebecca Kathleen Mathews were united in marriage Sept. 3, 2012 in an outdoor ceremony at the Hayloft in Rockwood. The groom’s father, Pastor Robert Bonser, presided over the double ring ceremony and delivered a message from Genesis 2:15-25 entitled “A Bond of Grace.”

Larkin, Bailey Wedding
On Oct. 15, 2011, Amber Corinne Bailey and Tyler Patrick Larkin were united in marriage in front of family and friends. The double ring ceremony took place at Centre Street United Methodist Church, which was the church of the bride’s childhood. The Rev. Ann W. Atkins, pastor of Centre Street United Methodist Church, performed the double ring ceremony. Heather Haines, church organist, provided music for the traditional Christian ceremony.

Brodie, Bond wedding vows recited Aug. 18
Abbey Alexandra Bond and Cpl. Braxten Ray Brodie were united in marriage on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at Ridgeview Valley in McHenry. The outdoor, double ring ceremony was officiated by Shon Brodie, uncle of the groom. A retired sergeant major of the United States Marine Corps, Shon serves as a bishop in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fredericksburg, Va.

Melissa Ann Stevens and Kenneth Eugene Nash Jr. were united in marriage on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012. The outdoor ceremony took place on a sunny autumn afternoon along the scenic Potomac River at Bond’s Landing in Green Ridge State Forest. The ceremony was performed by Pastor Jennifer Webber of the Frostburg United Methodist Church.

On July 9, 2011, under the pergola on the garden patio of Cortland Mansion in Hagerstown, Courtney Lynn Bennett and Robert Michael Taylor were married. These best friends became man and wife in a double ring ceremony officiated by Michael Mudge, pastor of The House of Bethany in Cumberland.
