HERSHEY, Pa. — On July 26, 2008, Jenny Lee Niland and Edward Andrew Rex were united in marriage. The ceremony took place at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Hershey. The Rev. Dr. Glenn Schoenberger of Stone Harbor, N.J., and the Rev. Dr. Winfield Devonshire of Hershey officiated.
Jenny Lee is the daughter of James “Hum” and Reba (Getty) Niland of LaVale. Edward is the son of Ed and Caroline Rex of Turnersville, N.J., and the grandson of John and Mary Rex of Erial, N.J.
The bride, escorted down the aisle by her father, wore a diamond white gown trimmed with Swarovski crystals and pearls, designed by Monique Luo. The gown was accented in the back with a tangerine-colored satin ribbon which matched the gowns worn by her bridal party. Jenny wore an elbow-length veil with the same crystal and pearl detail as her gown. She created a Swarovski necklace and bracelet to match crystal earrings, a gift from her parents. Her bouquet was an “orange” cascade of tiger lilies, mini orange calla lilies, orange freesia, orange roses and stephanotis.
Serving as maids of honor were the bride’s sisters, Abbey Jane Niland of Baltimore and Marney Jean Niland of Williamsport, Md. Her bridesmaids included her friends Dana Grace Douglas of Columbia, Md., Lauren Elizabeth Schoenberger of Royersford. and Jillian Snyder Fradiska of Cresaptown, Md., and sister of the groom, Nicole Amelia Rex, of Turnersville, N.J. Annie Elizabeth Getty, Lonaconing, Md., cousin of the bride, served as junior bridesmaid. flower girl was the groom’s cousin, Marissa Ann Peachey, of West Deptford, N.J.
The bridesmaids, all wearing the same tangerine-color and all A-line long skirts, wore individually-chosen tops. The maids of honor carried cascades of orange freesia, orange and yellow gerber daisies, blue delphinium and solidago flowers and the bridesmaids carried matching bouquets.
Serving as best man, was James Garaguso of Turnersville. Groomsmen included Gabriel Hunt of York; Anthony Tanzi of Philadelphia; Patrick McGuire of Turnersville; Sean Lazarus of York; and Nicholas Marini of Atlanta, Ga.; all friends of the groom. Serving as junior groomsman, was cousin of the groom, Joseph Burgo, of Glendale, Ariz. Ring bearers, carrying the rings, a pewter cross and bride’s Bible, were cousins of the groom, Liam and Noah Rex ,of Audubon, N.J., Vincent Burgo of Glendale and Nicholas Peachey of West Deptford.
The Scripture was read by Mrs. Robin Smith, Mrs. Cindy Healy and Mr. Gregory Getty, all special family members of the bride and groom. The organist for the ceremony was Mrs. Helen Anthony and the soloist was Mrs. Julie Miller.
The orange and white altar flowers were dedicated to the glory of God and a vase of six white calla lilies was in loving memory of John O. “Jack” and Jean Getty, Edmund and Mary Lou Niland, grandparents of the bride, and Nicholas and Delores Burgo, grandparents of the groom.
The wedding reception followed the ceremony and was held at the Spring Garden Reception Center, Middletown. The center was decorated in an orange and blue decor, including various orange flowers with orange calla lily centerpieces.
Jenny and Ed danced their first dance to Frank Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight.” The bride danced with her father to Stephen Curtis Chapman’s “Cinderella” and the groom and his mother danced to Rascal Flatts’ “My Wish.”
The wedding cake, a white chocolate mousse cake, was covered with white chocolate shavings and decorated with fresh orange roses. Toasts were given to the couple by the maids of honor, best man and both fathers.
The couple was honored by an engagement party at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Frederick Kiemle, hosted by the Kiemles and Mr. and Mrs. Greg Getty, of the brides family. Bridal showers were hosted by the groom’s mother and sister in New Jersey, by the bridal party in Maryland and the bride’s co-workers in Pennsylvania.
The bride is a 2002 graduate of Allegany High School and a 2006 graduate of York College, York. She is employed as a registered nurse by the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, in the Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree as a nurse educator at York College.
The groom is a 2002 graduate of Washington Township High School in New Jersey and a 2006 graduate of York College. He is employed by Educational Data Systems, Inc as a data coordinator in Harrisburg.
The couple honeymooned in Montego Bay, Jamaica. They currently reside in Lemoyne.
