Copeland, Parrill wedding

February 28, 2010 — RIDGELEY, W.Va. — One year ago today, on Feb. 28, 2009, Erin Killene Parrill and William Henry Copeland III were united in marriage. The ceremony took place at 1 p.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cumberland. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Father Jim Kurtz.

The bride is the daughter of Jack and Ellen Parrill, formerly of Ridgeley. The groom is the son of Bill and Phyllis Copeland, of Ringgold, Ga.

The bride was escorted down the aisle and given away by her father. She wore a designer gown by Mori Lee from Lenox East. The dress was a halter neckline, with a form-fitted sheath body that fell to a flared mermaid skirt and chapel train.

The entire dress was adorned with delicate sequins, crystals and beads over embroidered English lace. The bride wore a cathedral-length veil from Victorian Creations and carried a bouquet of white roses, stephanotis and baby’s breath. The groom wore a black tuxedo with black shirt, vest and tie.

Serving as matron of honor was the bride’s friend and college roommate, Stevi (Pauley) Wright of Charleston. Bridesmaids included Colleen Pell of Spartanburg, S.C., friend of the bride; and Crystal Lynam of Pittsburgh, friend of the bride. The attendants wore black floor-length dresses and carried bouquets of white roses. Elise, Allison and Tricia Parrill, cousins of the bride,  served as flower girls.

Serving as best man was the groom’s friend, Rich VanBlarcom, of Cumberland. Groomsmen were Marcus Harrigan of Frostburg, friend of the groom; and GB Fertig of Keyser, friend of the groom.

Following the ceremony, the guests attended a cocktail hour at Rocky Gap Lodge & Golf Resort, followed by a sit-down dinner and dancing. Music and entertainment was provided by the Chinese Bandits. The bride and groom danced their first dance to “Your Song” by Elton John. The bride danced with her father to “My Girl;” followed by the mother and son dance to “In My Life.”

The wedding cake was a four-tier chocolate and vanilla cake with raspberry filling, with white icing and black ribbon from Jennifer’s Desserts. Photography for the wedding was provided by Dick Horn of Spare Time Photo. Flowers and decorations were designed by Victorian Creations in Short Gap.

Bridal showers were hosted by the bride’s aunts and matron of honor. A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents the night before the ceremony at the Oxford House. Wedding guests traveled from Hawaii, Arizona, Kentucky, New York, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Georgia.

The couple honeymooned at Sandals in St. Lucia and currently reside in Ridgeley.
