Nash, Stevens wedding

GREEN RIDGE — Melissa Ann Stevens and Kenneth Eugene Nash Jr. were united in marriage on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012. The outdoor ceremony took place on a sunny autumn afternoon along the scenic Potomac River at Bond’s Landing in Green Ridge State Forest. The ceremony was performed by Pastor Jennifer Webber of the Frostburg United Methodist Church.

The bride is the daughter of Kenneth Stevens Jr. and Barbara Stevens of Frostburg.  Melissa is the granddaughter of Ray Llewellyn, Frostburg, and the late Anna Jean Llewellyn, and Kenneth Stevens Sr. and Laura Stevens.

The groom is the son of Kenneth Nash Sr. and Brenda Nash of Church Hill.  Kenneth is the grandson of Merritt and Fran Comegys of Centreville and Edith Davis of Centreville and the late Donald Nash.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father to a harvest-themed stage decorated with corn stalks, burlap, silk fall flowers, mums and pumpkins from the bride’s and groom’s garden.

Melissa wore an ivory, knee-length halter top dress and bay apache scallop-topped Justin cowboy boots.  She carried a bouquet of silk sunflowers, black-eyed Susans, mums, and turkey feathers.  She wore an antiqued silver pine cone necklace given to her by the groom.

The groom wore an 1800s-style vest and pants, an ivory western shirt, a tan felt hat and Double H boots. He wore a boutonniere of silk black-eyed Susans and turkey feathers to match the bride’s bouquet.

The bride and groom’s chocolate lab, Banjo, happily carried the couple’s bird band-themed wedding rings to the stage, where traditional vows were exchanged.

A reception immediately followed at Bond’s Landing, with picnic-style food prepared by the Zlomek family. Live bluegrass music was provided by the Hillbilly Gypsies of Morgantown, W.Va. Guests received favors of the bride’s homemade hardtack candy.

The bride and groom shared a homemade pumpkin pie prepared by the mother of the bride. Cupcakes took the place of a traditional wedding cake and were displayed on a tiered log display constructed by the groom.

For their honeymoon, the couple camped in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee and North Carolina, and traveled to Georgia for a wild boar hunt.

The couple resides in Frostburg.

Melissa and Kenneth would like to thank everyone who helped make their wedding day special.
