Beyor, Sides wedding

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Jennifer Sides and Nathaniel Beyor were united in marriage on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Rancho Dos Pueblos in Santa Barbara. Friends of the couple, Matthew Ariail of Los Angeles and Alexis Horowitz-Burdick of Singapore, officiated at the double ring, outdoor ceremony, which was held in a grove of centuries-old sycamore trees.

The bride is the daughter of Col. John and Gail Sides, USAF (Ret.) of Vail, Ariz., and the granddaughter of Jean and the late Ray V. Evans and Pauline and the late Charles Sides, all of Hyndman, Pa.

Nathaniel is the son of the Rev. Dr. Patricia Keel of Kentfield and the late Charles Beyor of Richmond, Maine, and the stepson of Robert Carey of Truckee and Diane Cameron of Los Angeles.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents and was escorted down the aisle by her father.  She wore an ivory silk duchess soft curved A-line Alvina Valenta couture gown with a sweetheart neckline.  The dress featured an ivory alencon lace bodice with an empire waist and jeweled satin ribbon trim detail, a tank strap effect and low back.  Ivory silk-covered buttons and loops over a zipper down the center back flowed into a sweep train.  The bride wore a sixpence in her shoe that was worn by the bride’s mother at her wedding and carried a hand-tied, natural bouquet of wild daisies, white peonies, mums and dusty miller.

Cassie Brown, Piedmont, Stacey Rifkin and Robin Saperstein, Los Angeles, sorority sisters of the bride, served as maids of honor.  Bridesmaids were Prena Towns, also a sorority sister, Chicago, Ill.; Kelly Williamson, Redondo Beach; Stephanie Samson, Santa Monica; Stephanie Martin, Brentwood; and, Christi Hardin, Charleston, S.C.  The flower girls were Emma Beyor, Clarissa Beyor and Abigail Beyor, sisters of the groom, Richmond, ME.

Serving as best men were Khemaridh Hy, New York, N.Y., and Michael Monti, Marin.  Groomsmen were Matthew Sides, brother of the bride, Tucson, Ariz.; Chris Haddad, Strasbourg, France; and David Murphy, Joseph Osorio, Ramsey Jishi and Karim Benhamida, all of San Francisco.

The couple’s dog, Iggy, served as ring bearer and was escorted down the aisle by Skye-Lynn Forsman, sister of the groom, Marin.

Cybele Zanet-Lauria, Richmond, and Ashley Carey, Marin, sisters of the groom, greeted guests when they arrived for the wedding and distributed the programs.  David Tedesco of Hermosa Beach read an excerpt from Ernest Hemingway’s “A Farewell to Arms” during the ceremony and Greg Willsey of Santa Monica offered a prayer.  The bride’s uncles, Greg Evans, Mercersburg, Pa., and David Evans, Tucson,  provided recorded pre-ceremony music on piano and guitar.

In lieu of favors, the couple made a donation in their guests’ honor to the Humane Society.

Immediately following the ceremony, cocktails and appetizers were served on the Rancho Dos Pueblos’ private beach. A buffet-style dinner and dancing followed in a barn located on the grounds of the ranch that was built in the early 1900s.

The bridal party and family members attended a rehearsal dinner in the garden of Arnoldi’s Café, one of the oldest restaurants in downtown Santa Barbara. A bachelorette party hosted by the bride’s maids of honor was held at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas and the bride was a guest of honor at a luncheon held at Il Cielo in Beverly Hills, hosted by her mother.

For their honeymoon, the couple traveled to East Africa to participate in a safari in Kenya and enjoy the beaches of Zanzibar.

Jennifer graduated from the University of Colorado and is a partner and owner at Blink Los Angeles, a full service marketing communications firm in Santa Monica.

Nathaniel is a graduate of Yale University and received a doctoral degree in bioengineering from the University of California at Berkeley. He is an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company, a global management consultant firm.

The couple currently reside in Venice.
