Flurie, Janowitz wedding


PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Lauren Janowitz and Alexander Flurie were married Aug. 2, 2008, in a beautiful Heinz Chapel ceremony on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. Father Robert Grandfeldt was the officiating clergyman.

A rehearsal dinner was held at the Eleven Restaurant in Pittsburgh.

The bride is the daughter of Jan and Ken Janowitz of Gibsonia and the granddaughter of Marge Wilkinson of Pittsburgh and Shirley Janowitz of Long Island, N.Y. The bride graduated from Swarthmore College and the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in classical languages and a master’s degree in teaching. She is employed as a Latin teacher at Blackhawk High School.

The bridegroom is the son of Carmen and David Flurie of Slidell, La., and the grandson of Karen and William Moore, Cumberland, Md., and Jane and Eugene Flurie, Hagerstown, Md. The groom is a graduate of Swarthmore College with a bachelor’s degree in engineering and is employed by Respironics.

The bride’s matron of honor was her best friend, Kristin Lascoe.

Serving as the groom’s best man was his brother, Paul Flurie. Ushers were Jason Bronstein, Neil Janowitz and Dean Anderson.

A reception hosted by the bride’s parents was held at The Morning Glory Inn in Pittsburgh.

After a honeymoon in Turkey, the couple settled at home in Pittsburgh.

The couple would like to thank friends and family for sharing their special day.
