CUMBERLAND — The marriage of Kelly Ann Helmick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Stephen Helmick of Cumberland, to Brandon S. Osterbind, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert O. Osterbind Jr. of Richmond, Va., took place on April 26, 2008, at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Cumberland. The double ring ceremony was performed by Pastor David G. Hattenfield under a white garden arch decorated with purple and lavender wisteria, ivy, tulle and frosted lights.
The bride, escorted in marriage by her father and given in marriage by her parents, is the granddaughter of Mary Jane Weimer, Cumberland, and the late Joseph Weimer and William and Kathleen Helmick of LaVale. The groom is the grandson of Olivia Osterbind, Gretna, Va., and the late Albert O. Osterbind Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Morris.
The bride wore a snow white strapless ball gown with a scalloped-edged lace neckline and a very full tulle skirt from David’s Bridal. It was adorned with crystal beading, sequins, pearls and lace appliqués. She wore a two-tier fingertip-length veil along with a silver bridal comb headpiece decorated with crystals that complemented her gown.
Kristen Helmick of Cumberland was her sister’s maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Amy Love, college roommate and friend, Lynchburg, Va.; Amber Boor, cousin of the bride, Ridgeley, W.Va., and Renee Osterbind, sister of the groom, Richmond. The maid of honor and bridesmaids wore formal black tea-length dresses with spaghetti straps by David’s Bridal. The gowns were accented by silver and pearl necklaces which were gifts from the bride. The bride and bridesmaids carried elegant hand-tied bouquets of lavender bluebird roses with purple statice designed by Harvey’s Florist.
Travis Story, law school friend of the bride and groom, Arkansas, served as best man. Groomsmen were Steven Landen, cousin of the groom, Richmond; Daniel Sanders, law school friend of the groom, Tennessee; and Jeremy Starnes, childhood friend of the groom, Richmond. The groom and groomsmen wore black formal tuxedos with silver vests.

The beautiful three-tier square wedding cake, along with two square satellite cakes, was designed, baked and served by Bonnie Wilson and adorned with flowers from Harvey’s Florist. Outstanding fruit table creations were designed by Kim Mason. Purple and silver foil roses were created by Kathy Diehl for each table setting as reception favors.
A lovely buffet-style dinner was served in the church fellowship hall following the ceremony. The blessing at the reception was given by Pastor Matthew D. Eichhorn, senior pastor of Eckhart Baptist Church and former youth pastor of the bride.
Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Leo Weimer of Gettysburg, Pa., and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Gillis of Mount Savage, were recognized as the longest married couples attending. A power-point presentation of the bride’s and groom’s lives from childhood through their engagement was presented.
A special thank you to Debra Boor, aunt of the bride; Mary Jane Weimer, grandmother of the bride; and Cindy Deneen and Nancy Brown, family friends; for all their help and also to all those who prepared and served the delicious reception dinner.
