Hill, Bartel wedding

BALTIMORE — Jocelyn Christina Bartel and Kevin William Hill Jr. were married June 25, 2011, at St. Casmir Catholic Church, Baltimore. The Rev. Dwight D. Schlaline, a high school friend of the bride, officiated at the wedding ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Peter W. Bartel III and Jane B. Bartel of Hampstead. She is a 2004 graduate of Mount St. Mary’s College, with a degree in Spanish and two minors in sociology and criminal justice. The bride also is a 2008 graduate of Johns Hopkins University, with a master’s of art degree in teaching. She is currently teaching Spanish at Damascus High School, Damascus.

The groom is the son of Kevin W. Hill of Cumberland and Natalie K. Chabot of Cambridge, formerly of Frostburg. He is a 2000 graduate of Allegany High School and majored in architecture at Virginia Tech prior to earning a degree in construction management from Delaware Tech. During his 2002 summer break from college, Kevin began an internship with Bunting Construction Corporation, a large Eastern Shore developer and contractor. Kevin began his full-time professional career with Bunting in 2005 and in 2007 was promoted to project manager. In early 2011, Kevin went in business for himself when he purchased Brooks Creek Construction, a general contracting company located in Cambridge.

Following in her mother’s and grandmother’s footsteps, Jocelyn was the third generation of her family to get married at St. Casmir Catholic Church.

Lauren Maruskin, best friend of the bride, served as the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Elizabeth Burlingame, college friend of the bride; Farren Smith, cousin of the groom; and Laura Bartel, sister-in-law of the bride.

Serving as best man was Matthew Hill, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Shaun Evans, cousin of the groom; Troy Weisenmiller, childhood friend of the groom; and Nicholas Bartel, brother of the bride.

A reception was held following the wedding Mass at Martins East, Baltimore.

The couple reside in Annapolis.

    Robert Jeffrey Bonser and Rebecca Kathleen Mathews were united in marriage Sept. 3, 2012 in an outdoor ceremony at the Hayloft in Rockwood. The groom’s father, Pastor Robert Bonser, presided over the double ring ceremony and delivered a message from Genesis 2:15-25 entitled “A Bond of Grace.”

    On Oct. 15, 2011, Amber Corinne Bailey and Tyler Patrick Larkin were united in marriage in front of family and friends. The double ring ceremony took place at Centre Street United Methodist Church, which was the church of the bride’s childhood. The Rev. Ann W. Atkins, pastor of Centre Street United Methodist Church, performed the double ring ceremony. Heather Haines, church organist, provided music for the traditional Christian ceremony.

A retired sergeant major of the United States Marine Corps, Shon serves as a bishop in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fredericksburg, Va.
