Benedict, Kane wedding

FROSTBURG — One year ago on Aug. 2, 2008, Misty Dawn Kane and Benjamin Charles Benedict united in marriage. The double ring ceremony took place on the 10th tee of the golf course at Maplehurst Country Club in Frostburg. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Arthur D. Leaker. A reception followed the beautiful ceremony in the country club.

The bride is the daughter of Robert and Ronda Kane of Keyser, W.Va., and the late Cheryl Kane. The groom is the son of Michael and Chris Benedict of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Misty was escorted by her father down the aisle. She wore a David’s Bridal strapless gown with beaded sweetheart neckline and taffeta pick up skirt. The back of the dress was a lace-up corset and featured a chapel train. She wore a white veil trimmed in crystal beads. The bride carried a bouquet of fresh fuchsia roses and pink Peruvian Lilies and pearls wrapped in a chocolate brown satin ribbon.

Serving as maid of honor was the bride’s sister, Lindsey Kane of Keyser. Bridesmaids were Mindy Hartman, and Heather Hamilton, cousins of the bride, and junior bridesmaid Tori Kane, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids wore a David’s Bridal short satin off-the-shoulder A-line dress with a ruched waist in the color chambord. They carried bouquets of fresh pink Peruvian Lilies wrapped in a chocloate brown satin ribbon. The flower girl Emily Hartman wore a chocolate brown waffle hem dress carrying rose petals in a golf ball basket. All of the bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres were made by Martin's Food Market in LaVale.

The groom wore a chocolate brown Stephen Geoffrey tuxedo with a brown polka-dotted windsor tie. Serving as his best man was his dad, Michael Benedict. The groomsmen were Brian Hobbs of Fairmont, W.Va., Jesse Simon of Wilmington, N.C., and Seth Haines of Keyser. The groomsmen also wore chocolate brown tuxedos. The ring bearer, Anthony Hamilton, wore a brown and white checkered knicker outfit with suspenders. He carried a ring pillow made with golf ball fabric created by the bride's aunt, Diane Hamilton.

Fan programs were handed out at the ceremony by Haily Swisher. Music for the ceremony and reception was provided by DJ Scott Furey of Keyser. After the ceremony the bride and groom drove off in a golf cart to later meet their guests at the reception.

The couple enjoyed a three-tiered square white cake covered with white polka-dots and chocolate brown satin ribbon on the bottom of each layer. The top tier of the cake was embellished with the couple initials. The cake was made by Lorenzo's Bakery in Frostburg. The photography was by Marlee Fitzgerald of Life Images of Keyser.

The bride is a teacher in Mineral County at Keyser Primary-Middle School.

The groom is employed with Cumberland Times-News as graphics designer.

The couple honeymooned at Sandals in the Bahamas where they swam with the dolphins. They now reside in Keyser.

The bride and groom would like to thank all of their family and friends who helped make their special day possible.
