Molten Mess
Cumberland firefighters worked nearly 90 minutes Wednesday evening to extinguish a blaze in this Bath Outfitters van at 100 Auburn Ave.
Deputy Chief Tim Growden said fire crews were sent to the scene at 5:56 p.m.
Upon arrival, they found a fully engulfed van full of plastic and fiberglass, forcing firefighters to use foam on the blaze.
Unlike water, foam penetrates more deeply, and is good for smothering the flames, Growden said.
The vehicle was a total loss.
