PETERSBURG, W.Va. — Brian George scored 21 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead Petersburg to a 54-46 victory over Frankfort in high school boys basketball Saturday night.
The Vikings took a 14-10 lead in the first quarter, and the game maintained same pace throughout the second quarter as Petersburg held a 27-20 advantage at the half.
Both teams traded baskets throughout the third quarter and the Vikings entered the fourth quarter with a 42-34 lead. The Falcons cut their deficit to three on a three-point shot by Chase Detrick midway through the fourth quarter, but Petersburg came up with some key defensive plays and converted on free throws to secure the win.
Grant Shanholtz had six assists and Trevor Harman three steals for Petersburg (3-5), which will host Berkeley Springs on Wednesday.
Gage Shaffer had 14 points, Thane Cutter 12 and Nick Smith 10 for Frankfort (2-8), which will host Hampshire on Thursday.
Petersburg also won the jayvee game 51-29. Jace Shanholtz scored 17 points, Ryan VanMeter had 13, and Brandon Seabolt nine points and nine rebounds.

FREDERICK — Conner Brown scored 23 points to lead four double-figure scorers as New Life dumped Calvary in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference game Saturday evening.
Austin Brown added 15 points and Michael Allwein and Jeremiah Chambers had 10 for New Life.
Tyler Michael led Calvary (5-5, 2-3) with 17 points.
The Eagles play at Heritage tonight.
