FROSTBURG — Courtney Clemmons scored 14 points to help Catoctin slowly pull away from Fort Hill Thursday evening and earn its way into the championship of the Mountain Ridge Christmas Tournament with a 55-43 win over the Sentinels.
The Cougars will play Mountain Ridge today at 5:30 in the title game. The Miners were supposed to play Pendleton County on Thursday, but Pendleton withdrew because of the weather. Consequently, Fort Hill will not play again today.
Catoctin held a 15-13 advantage on the Sentinels after one quarter, and led by six (32-26) at halftime. The lead grew to 10 points (46-36) by the end of the third.
Fort Hill’s (3-3) Sarah Lowery had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Alesha Jackson added 16 points and eight boards.
Besides the 14 points from Clemmons, the Cougars got 10 from Amanda Hackney and nine from Kristy Erfudt.
The Sentinels will host Frankfort on Wednesday.
