CUMBERLAND — Cody Matthews, J.T. Thomas, Adam Martz, Nick Shifflett, Tyler Maynard and Austin Clark won individual titles while leading Mountain Ridge to the Bi-County wrestling championship Saturday at Fort Hill.
The Miners won with 176 points, followed by Fort Hill with 148, Southern with 135, Allegany with 110 and Northern with 53.
Martz, the winner in the 132-pound division, earned outstanding wrestler honors among the lower weight classes. The outstanding wrestler in the upper weights was Allegany’s Kirk Robinette, who won the 170 division.
Tristen Tressler (126), Drake Arnold (152) and Brennan Carlin (220) won their respective weight divisions for Fort Hill, while Austin Shaffer (113), Tanner Massey (138) and Scott Cooper (195) won their classes for Southern. Robinette (170) and Garrett Maiers (285) were division champs for Allegany.
The Bi-County also served as the local regional qualifier, as the first- and second-place finishers advance to the regional tournament to be held Friday and Saturday at Oakdale High School.
