CAYFL coaches meeting tonight
CUMBERLAND — The coaches of the Cumberland Area Youth Football League will meet tonight, 7 p.m., at the Cumberland Outdoor Club.
Houston at Temple to kickoff new
Big East schedule
NEW YORK (AP) — Houston will visit Temple on Sept. 7 to play the first conference game in what will be the new Big East football league.
The Big East released its football schedule Wednesday after months of trying to figure out what schools would be in the rebuilding conference in 2013.
The conference was hoping to have a 12-team league with Boise State and San Diego State anchoring a western division. Those schools backed out on a commitment to join, so instead it will be a 10-team league, including Rutgers and Louisville, which are likely leaving by 2014.
Houston is one of four new members joining the league in July, along with Memphis, Central Florida and SMU.
By the time they play a game the conference will likely have a new name.
