FROSTBURG — DeSean Antoine hit a long three-pointer — his school record-tying seventh of the game, to lift Frostburg State to an 87-84 victory over Southern Virginia in college men’s basketball Tuesday night at Bobcat Arena.
Antoine shot 7 of 10 from three-point range and finished with 24 points while Chris Jackson added 23, David Patrick 12 and Jabari Kamau 10 for the Bobcats (8-12), who enjoyed one of their better shooting nights of the year. They shot 55 percent from the field in the second half and 52 percent for the game.
After a first half that featured eight lead changes and five ties, Frostburg built two second-half leads of 10 points but watched as Southern Virginia (11-4) battled back each time.
The Bobcats led by nine midway through the half, but the Knights chopped it to 58-55 with 7:27 to go. A quick 7-0 spurt put the Bobcats up 65-55 with 6:13 left, but it was back down to 69-65 with 4:41 to go.
Frostburg led 83-79 with 41 seconds left after a foul shot by Kamau, but the Knights came back with a three-pointer by Jonathan Jacobson to slice the Bobcat lead to 83-82. An FSU free throw and a Southern Virginia layup with 13 seconds left set up Antoine’s game-winner.
Isaac Jacobson led Southern Virginia with 18 points.
Frostburg plays at Wesley on Saturday.
