WAYNESBURG, Pa. — Christian Jackson had season highs with 38 points and 17 rebounds and set a school record by making 18 free throws as Frostburg State earned a 69-61 victory over Waynesburg Saturday afternoon.
Jackson hit 10 of 21 shots from the field and went 18 for 19 from the foul line. He also had four steals to go along with his 17 rebounds.
The 38 points ranks No. 6 in a single game in school history and the 17 rebounds are tied for 10th.
Shawn Henson added nine points and nine rebounds and Kwambina Coker chipped in with six points and nine rebounds for Frostburg.
Neither team shot particular well and the Bobcats (6-10) overcame eight three-pointers from the Yellow Jackets (6-10) for their third non-conference win in the last four attempts.
Thomas Ellis had 18 points to lead Waynesburg.
Frostburg, which outrebounded Waynesburg 52-39, led 13-0 5:41 into the contest and never trailed. Frostburg held two more 13-point cushions in the opening half before leading by eight, 32-24, at halftime.
The Yellow Jackets cut their deficit to four with seven minutes left, but the Bobcats iced it with an 11-1 run that made it 64-50 with 3:42 to go.
Frostburg State hosts York on Wednesday.

YOUNGWOOD, Pa. — George Chase poured in 26 points to lead four scorers in double figures and lead Potomac State past Westmoreland in nearly a month.
Chase hit 11 field goals and two free throws to lead all scorers for the Catamounts (3-1, 0-1 Pennsylvania Collegiate Athletic Conference).
Carlton Drake added 15 points and Mike Hatfield and Cedrick Dwyer 12 for Potomac State.
Andy Carter, who went 12 for 13 from the foul line, had a game-high 32 points for Westmoreland.
The game was the first for Potomac State since a 76-64 win over Prince George’s on Dec. 15.
The Catamounts play at Essex on Monday at 7 p.m.
