FROSTBURG — Frostburg State spotted LaRoche an early lead, then roared back with 12 first-half goals, including nine in a row at one point, and routed the Redhawks 18-7 in college men’s lacrosse Wednesday night.
LaRoche (0-2) scored in the first 30 seconds of the match, but it was all Frostburg State (2-0) the rest of the way. The Bobcats scored six goals in the first quarter and six more in the second in building a 12-2 halftime lead.
Thirteen Bobcats registered at least a point and a dozen scored goals in the home debut. Nick Stailey had three goals, Spenser Love two goals and two assists, Andy Luhmann two goals and one assist, Chris Rios a goal and three assists and Devin Colegrove four assists in leading the Bobcat attack.
Billy Lark won 11 of 14 faceoffs and Tyler Haines stopped four shots in goal in the first half to get the win in net.
Mike DiMarco, Jean Thouin and Dustin Reykdal had two goals for LaRoche. Goalkeeper Eugene LaBorde stopped 18 shots.
Frostburg plays at Lebanon Valley on Saturday at 1 p.m.
