Carroll, Bush claim conference titles

FAIRFAX, Va. — Morgan Carroll and Alexis Bush won individual events to lead the Frostburg State women’s track and field team to a fourth-place finish in the Capital Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Sunday.

Mary Washington repeated as conference champs with 155 points, followed by Salisbury with 133 1/2 points. York had 88 1/2, Frostburg 52 and Wesley 27.

Carroll and Bush accounted for 18 points apiece for the Bobcats.

Carroll won the high jump and hit an ECAC mark for the second time this season as she cleared 1.62 meters. She also earned All-CAC honors and hit the ECAC qualifying mark in the 400-meter dash, finishing second in 1:00.48.

Bush won the long jump (5.11 meters), was third in the 60 dash (8.24) and fifth in the 200 dash (27.91).

Christina Smith chalked up 14 points in the throwing events. She was All-CAC in the shot put after a runner-up finish with a mark of 10.77 meters and took third in the weight throw at 11.95 meters.

Carroll, Gabbi Maher, Shana Ashby and Brynn Allston finished fifth in the 400 relay in 4:34.13.

Frostburg State will compete again in two weeks in the ECAC Championships in New York City.
