FROSTBURG — Joanna Murray scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and St. Mary’s took advantage of a cold shooting night by Frostburg State to defeat the Bobcats 60-46 on Saturday.
Pui Sham added 12 points and Sophie Pruden and Marche Pearson had 11 rebounds each for St. Mary’s (6-6, 1-2). Neither team shot well, as St. Mary’s finishing at 31 percent and Frostburg at 25 percent. The Seahawks led in rebounds 51-43.
Brynn Arnone led the Bobcats with 14 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Elaina Hummel had 12 points and four assists.
Frostburg trailed 19-4 early, but got to within 30-23 at halftime and was down by only 35-30 after a Hummel layup with 16:22 to go. The Bobcats, however, would get no closer and St. Mary’s enjoyed a double-figure lead most of the rest of the way.
Frostburg will host Wesley on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
