Southern’s Shaffer signs with Bridgewater
Alli Shaffer, one of the most prolific offensive players in Southern High School soccer history, has committed to continue her soccer career at Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Va.

Hampshire’s Maiers, Ennis voted first-team All-State
Matt Maiers and Shane Ennis, who led Hampshire to a 25-win season and conference and sectional championships, were voted first-team Class AAA All-State by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.

Brooks Carr belted a home run and a single and Lakeview pitchers combined for a four-hitter and 12 strikeouts in a six-inning 12-2 victory over Salisbury Legion in Hot Stove League baseball Monday at Northern High School.

Grantsville splits weekend games in Hillbilly Hardball Classic
Patrick Sines drove in three runs for Grantsville Post 214 in an 8-5 win over Prospect, Ohio at the Hillbilly Hardball Classic on Saturday.
Evan Rodeheaver got the win, allowing three earned runs on seven hits in a complete game. -
Shroyer hurls Barrelville ODC to victory
Brandon Shroyer pitched a complete game gem, allowing two runs on two hits with nine strikeouts and three walks for Barrelville Outdoor Club in a 4-2 win over Personal Best in Rec League baseball Monday evening at Dickel Field.

A contrite Chad Johnson apologized Monday for disrespecting a judge when the former NFL star slapped his attorney on the backside in court last week and was released from jail after only a week instead of 30 days.
