MCHENRY — Rodrina Thorpe-Sheppard scored 22 points as Garrett held on to defeat the Alderson Broaddus junior varsity squad 63-58 at Garrett Monday.

Garrett dominated the first half, leading 34-16 at the break, but Alderson Broaddus was a different team in the second half, outscoring Garrett 42-29 and nearly came back to win on the road.

Sydney Shaffer led the Battlers with 17 points and Taja Dave had 15.

For the Lakers, Shameena Johnson scored 15, Janice Bartley had 10 and Kailyn Woods chipped in nine.

Cecil    73

Potomac State    56

NORTH EAST — Jasmine Moore scored 20 points to lead Cecil to a home win over Potomac State, 73-56,  Monday.

Behind Moore and Christina Talbert, who had 18 points, Cecil frequently found the bottom of the net in the first half. Potomac State scored 30 in the first 20 minutes to give it an 11-point deficit at the break.

The Catamounts never got any closer than seven in the second half. Cecil answered them at every turn and pulled away for the 17-point win.

Kirsten Ward led Potomac State with 18 points and nine rebounds. Alexis Steele had 11 points and four assists, while Jenna McAtee added 11 points and seven rebounds.

Potomac State, now 1-5, tries to break a three-game losing streak when it hosts Hagerstown on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Anne Arundel    74

Allegany    55

ARNOLD — Allegany College of Maryland dropped their tenth straight to start the season in a 74-55 defeat at Anne Arundel on Monday.

Once again the Trojans started slow and played from behind the entire game. They fought to make it a 32-25 game at halftime.

Playing in spurts and a lack of execution have plagued the Trojans all season. They could never sustain a run as Anne Arundel put the game away in the waning moments.

Madi Nightengale was a bright spot for the Trojans with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Dirica Souder and Monique Rhodes each scored 13. Kayla Hutson grabbed eight rebounds to go with four points.

Jacqueline Webber led the Pioneers with 20 points. Olivia Pubaya dropped 15 and Imani Stokes added 13.

Allegany plays at Dundalk, Friday, at 8 p.m.
