Potomac loses at buzzer

KEYSER, W.Va. — Mary Ardrejko made a buzzer-beating lay-up to give CCAC Boyce a 63-61 win at Potomac State in college women’s basketball on Wednesday.

The Catamounts stymied Boyce in the first half, allowing just 19 points.

Boyce came back in the second half to take the lead with 10 minutes remaining. The lead grew to seven before Potomac State battled back to tie it in the final minute.

The Catamounts played for the last shot but committed an offensive foul with six seconds left. Potomac State stole the in-bounds pass, which was stolen back by Ardrejko and led to her last-second lay-in.

Kirsten Ward led Potomac State (8-15, 7-3 Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference) with 15 points. Jenna McAtee recorded 13 points, seven rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals. Alexis Steele added 12 points.

Andrea Keiser had a game-high 30 points for Boyce. Ardrejko finished with 12.

The teams will play again Friday at 6 p.m. at CCAC Boyce in the first round of the WPCC playoffs.
