CUMBERLAND — Chris Scarlett was outstanding, recording 17 points, seven rebounds, seven steals and six assists to lead Bishop Walsh over Mountain Ridge, 61-48, in Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference action at Bishop Walsh Wednesday.
The Miners spent the entire game playing from behind after scoring just five points in the first quarter.
The Spartans won the second quarter, 18-17, to take a six-point lead into halftime.
The second half start was nearly as poor as the first half’s as Mountain Ridge fell too far behind to make a fourth quarter run.
Liam Rhodes had a game-high 18 for the Spartans.
Rashawn Johnson led the Miners with 14 points and Michael Strietbeck added 12.
In the jayvee game, Mountain Ridge rolled, 49-21, behind 10 points from Dillon Williams. Garrett Shaffer led the Spartans with seven.
On Friday, Bishop Walsh (15-5) hosts Hyndman Friday and Mountain Ridge (7-8) plays at Northern. Both games begin at 7:30 p.m.
