This time, Frankfort hangs the banner
One of the most confounding and agonizing periods of futility in West Virginia scholastic sports history came to a merciful and glorious end Saturday at Charleston’s Laidley Field. It was then and there that the first team state championship in the 37 years of Frankfort High School girls athletics was won.

Hampshire’s Moreland captures Class AAA boys state discus title
Levi Moreland won what is believed to be the first individual track and field state championship in Hampshire High School history by winning the discus Friday at Laidley Field during day one of the West Virginia Class AAA championships.

Potomac State falls in district final
Wesley Rogers had four of Spartanburg Methodist’s 22 hits and Reid Moman homered and knocked in four runs as the Pioneers ended Potomac State’s hopes of a trip to the Junior College World Series with a 17-2 win to win the Eastern District Championship Sunday at Golden Park.
