HAGERSTOWN — Five players scored in double figures and used a strong second half to allow Monroe Community College to pull away from Allegany College of Maryland Sunday afternoon in the Jim Brown Classic at Hagerstown Community College.
Ta-Quan Zimmerman led the Tribunes with 16 points, making three of the team’s 10 three-pointers, three twos and a free throw. Malcolm McNair and Greg Williams each scored 14, Kenny Johnson 12 and Tashawn Desir 11.
Allegany was paced by Alex Brayboy’s game-high 21 points. He made seven baskets and was 7 of 10 from the line. Ricky Mosley added 17 points.
Monroe (7-1) led by two at halftime, 35-33.
“In the first half, we were playing well,” said Allegany head coach Mike Baker. “We had an eight-point lead then we started turning it over and finished with 28 for the game.
“The bottom dropped out in the second half with the turnovers.”
Allegany (1-6) returns to Hagerstown to play the Hawks on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
