SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Thane Cutter’s double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds was the driving force in Frankfort’s 45-38 win over Mineral County rival Keyser in Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference basketball.
Cutter connected on seven shots from the field and was 1-for-2 at the foul line to reach 15 points. Chase Detrick added nine points, Gage Shaffer eight and Colton Dorsey had seven. Shaffer also finished with seven rebounds.
The Falcons went back and forth with the Golden Tornado in the first half, leading 9-7 after one quarter, but trailing 18-15 at halftime. Frankfort hen outscored Keyser 15-4 in the third to pull ahead for good.
Tyler Hamilton scored 15 points for the Tornado.
Ryan Kunis scored 12 points as Keyser won the jayvee game 49-40. Braiden Popluhar scored 16 for Frankfort.
The Falcons won the freshmen contest 47-39 on Jake Young’s 17 points and Devin Alt’s 16. Miller scored 13 in the loss.
Frankfort (5-11, 4-8) plays a tripleheader at Berkeley Springs Tuesday. Keyser (2-11, 2-9) gets Petersburg at home on Tuesday.

Calvary 61
CRESAPTOWN — Monti Anderson scored 23 points and Mo Sallah added 22 for Broadfording during a 77-61 win over host Calvary in a Mason Dixon Christian Conference match in Cresaptown.
Anderson and Sallah were joined in double figures by Ben Craddock’s 15 points. Together the three combined for 59 of their team’s 77 points.
Calvary’s Tyler Michael scored a game-high with 24 points in the loss. Gavin Hart nailed four three-pointers while scoring 14 points and Justin Swogger scored 13 more. Matt Dillow scored nine points.
The Eagles lost the jayvee game, 43-41, in overtime. Caleb Snyder had 15 points and Nick Phillips scored nine.
Calvary (9-8, 5-5) plays again tonight against New Life at home.

FRANKLIN, W.Va. — The visiting Petersburg Vikings displayed a solid defensive effort to earn a win at Pendleton County on Wednesday.
Grant Shanholtz led Petersburg with 13 points. Ryan Colaw added 10 points and Brian George had nine. Evan Arrington led Pendleton County with 13 points.
Petersburg held an 8-6 at the end of the first quarter, then went to halftime with a 20-16 lead. Thanks to Petersburg’s half-court defense, the Wildcats went cold in the third quarter as they managed only one field goal from Arrington. The Vikings went on a 6-0 run to open the third and had scoring from five different players en route to a 32-18 lead heading into the final quarter. Petersburg was 9-for-12 from the free-throw line in the fourth to coast to the 19-point victory.
Petersburg also won the junior varsity game 31-22 as Ryan VanMeter scored 16 points and Jace Shanholtz added seven.
Petersburg (6-8) will host Moorefield Friday.
