MONTGOMERY, W. Va. — The Frostburg State men’s swimming team won four events and had five seconds but lost at West Virginia Tech 107-72 on Saturday.
The FSU women also lost, 111-42.
In the men’s meet, Jonathan Lacher won the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:55.89) and the 500 freestyle (5:46.99) and was on the second-place 200 freestyle relay team to lead the Bobcats. Jonathan Shepard won the 200 individual medley (2:19.17) and Caleb Stair won the 100 butterfly (58.82) with more than a four-second victory margin.
The FSU women started strong by opening their meet with three victories. Kaitlyn Donch won the 1,000 freestyle (12:00.22) and Meredith Johnson took the 200 freestyle (2:24.07) before Maci Quintanilla, Jessica Rice, Jaclyn Franzak and Elizabeth Jarrell teamed to win the 200 medley relay (2:13.01).
Quintanilla later won the 200 individual medley (2:36.14) and 100 backstroke (1:11.05), Donch claimed the 500 freestyle (5:52.68) and Sara King won the 100 freestyle (1:06.03). King, Franzak, Johnson and Jarrell won the 200 freestyle relay (1:56.32).
Friday night, the FSU teams dropped a match to Fairmont State.
The men picked up two wins and six second-place finishes in a 106-72 loss.
Shepard won the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.61 and the 200 freestyle team of Jeffrey Lewis, Lacher, Shepard and Stair got the other win with a time of 1:55.74.
The women had two wins and eight second places in a 91-82 loss to the Falcons.
Donch won the 100 breaststroke in 1:23.41 and the 200 freestyle team of King, Franzak, Johnson and Jarrell was first in 2:05.94.
The Bobcats swim again on Friday, Nov. 30, at Penn State Altoona.
