WEPCO in finals

CUMBERLAND — Jamie Stowell fired a complete game three-hitter and WEPCO Federal Credit Union secured a spot in the Rec League finals by beating American Legion Post 13, 7-2, to sweep their semifinal series Wednesday at Donahue Field.

WEPCO entered the top of the seventh inning with a 3-0 lead, and sealed the win with four runs. American Legion got two runs in the bottom of the inning.

Stowell allowed only three singles, struck out six and walked only two.

Daniel Warnick hit a double and a single to drive in two runs, Thomas Holtschneider added two singles and an RBI, and Jamie Pollock had a double, single and one RBI.

Matt Taylor had two of Post 13’s three hits, both singles.

WEPCO (17-2-1) won the first game of the series on Monday, 5-4, on an RBI double by Ryan Colmer in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Game one of the championship series, against the winner of the Chessie/Sweitzer, Simson & Associates winner, begins Monday at 5:30.
