WEPCO tops American Legion in its series opener

From Staff Reports

WESTERNPORT — Ryan Colmer’s walk-off double gave WEPCO Federal Credit Union a 1-0 lead in its playoff series with American Legion, and gave Colmer a complete-game victory Monday night in Westernport.

Colmer allowed four runs, four hits and induced 15 ground-ball outs to earn the victory. Three of the four hits he allowed came in the fourth inning, when American Legion scored all four of its runs.

The Legion used a two-run home run off the bat of Jeremy Weisenmiller to help it score its four runs. Trevor Korns added a two-run single.

WEPCO (16-1-1) won in the seventh when Jamie Stowell walked and scored from first when Colmer doubled. Jeremy Shingler also doubled, while Marcus McGinnis and Jamie Pollock had two singles each.

The teams will meet again Wednesday, 5:30 p.m., at Donahue Field.
