Hite Roofing and Casselman Valley split twinbill

Hite Roofing rallied for a pair of runs in the seventh inning to win the first game, and Casselman Valley’s James Baer hurled a complete game in the second in a split of their twinbill at Bel Air field.

In the opener, Hite Roofing trailed 2-1 until Alex Shingle’s two-out, two-run double in the top of the seventh.

Roy Jefferys hit two singles and Shane Malloy added a double for Hite Roofing (5-10). Cody Jefferys, who relieved in the fourth, got the win.

Ben Diehl hit two singles for Casselman Valley.

In the second game, Neil Kamp belted a triple and double and Diehl added two more singles to lift Casselman Valley.

Casselman Valley broke a 1-1 tie after loading the bases with none out in the fourth inning. The first run scored on a double play, and the second came home on a double by Kamp.

Baer scattered seven hits and struck out five for the win. Seven Hite players had a single each.

Hite Roofing played KMK Insurance/Personal Best and Casselman Valley hosted Times-News in Friday games.

  • Shingler WEPCO wins, 10-0

    Jeremy Shingler pitched a five-inning one-hitter and got plenty of support as the WEPCO Federal Credit Union batters pounded 12 hits in a 10-0 victory over the Times-News on Friday evening at Holler Field for the team’s fourth straight Rec Baseball League championship.

  • Josh Crawford Moore, Crawford lift Culver Design in 10th

    Trevor Moore hit a clutch two-run single to give Culver Design Build the lead in the top of the 10th inning and Josh Crawford came back out to complete his 10 inning stint on the mound and induced three fly outs to centerfield as the Pirates beat the Cresaptown Eagles, 4-2, for a two-game sweep in the Hot Stove League championship series.

  • times news Szymanski sends Times-News over WEPCO, 10-4

    Eddie Szymanski tripled and singled twice to knock in four runs and had the big hit in a six-run first inning to lead the Times-News to a 10-4 victory over WEPCO in Game 2 of the Rec Baseball League Championship Series Wednesday at Holler Field.

    Connor O’Rourke had three hits and Aaron O’Rourke tossed a complete game as the Times-News defeated Chessie Credit Union, 7-5, to earn a spot in the Rec League finals Friday evening at Frostburg Armory field.

    Ryan Reddinger struck out 12 while allowing three hits and walking two to put WEPCO Federal Credit Union into the Rec League Playoff finals by beating Sweitzer, Simson and Associates, 5-2, Thursday to win the best-of-three series.

    Jeremy Shingler fired a four-hitter and Marcus McGinnis and Adam Stowell homered, lifting top-seeded WEPCO to a 5-2 win over fourth-seeded Sweitzer, Simson & Associates in the first game of their best-of-three Rec League semifinal series Monday evening.

    Johnny Taylor belted a two-out solo home run in the top of the eighth to highlight a two-run inning to help Hite Roofing defeat KMK Insurance/Personal Best, 8-6, Thursday at Bel Air Field.

    Daniel Warnick stole third base and scored on the overthrow into left field in the bottom of the 11th as WEPCO edged the Times-News, 3-2, to clinch the Rec Baseball League regular-season title Wednesday evening.
