SHORT GAP, W.Va. - Kody Boyer fired a two-hitter, had three hits and scored two runs to lead the American Legion over Fort Ashby VFW 6-0 Monday evening at Frankfort High School.
Boyer had 11 strikeouts and stopped a key threat in the sixth with the Legion up 2-0. After one out, Fort Ashby's Colton Jones singled and, after an error, Corey Proietti had a base hit that loaded the bases. Boyer then ended the inning with a shallow flyout and a strike out.
American Legion put the game away with a four-run seventh highlighted by Bryan Carter's three-run base hit. J.R. Shuck had two hits.
The Legion (13-3) plays KMK Insurance/Personal Best at LaVale Lions Field and Fort Ashby (7.5-9.5) will play Hite Roofing at Bel Air. Both games are Wednesday evening.
