WEPCO FCU whips KMK/Personal Best, 13-6

WESTERNPORT - Ryan Colmer hit a pair of two-run home runs and pitched the first four innings of WEPCO Federal Credit Union's 13-6 win over KMK Insurance/Personal Best.

Colmer's first homer came during a four-run fourth inning, and the other provided two insurance runs in the sixth. Thomas Holtschneider also finished with four RBIs for WEPCO, with a double and two sacrifice flies. Marcus McGinnis hit two singles and knocked in two runs.

KMK/Personal Best built a 6-3 lead entering the bottom of the fourth inning when WEPCO took the lead with its four-run inning. WEPCO made it 8-6 in the fifth, and a five-run sixth blew it open, boosting the score 13-6.

Shane Kreiling and Chandler Tomlinson hit solo home runs for KMK/Personal Best. Tomlinson added three singles and finished with two RBIs. Sam Schram slapped two singles.

Colmer and reliever Jamie Stowell had five strikeouts each in the victory, while Chris Stein had six in the loss.

WEPCO plays next on Wednesday at Southern against Sweitzer, Simson and Associates. Personal Best will also play Wednesday at Salisbury against Casselman Valley.

  • Shingler WEPCO wins, 10-0

    Jeremy Shingler pitched a five-inning one-hitter and got plenty of support as the WEPCO Federal Credit Union batters pounded 12 hits in a 10-0 victory over the Times-News on Friday evening at Holler Field for the team’s fourth straight Rec Baseball League championship.

  • Josh Crawford Moore, Crawford lift Culver Design in 10th

    Trevor Moore hit a clutch two-run single to give Culver Design Build the lead in the top of the 10th inning and Josh Crawford came back out to complete his 10 inning stint on the mound and induced three fly outs to centerfield as the Pirates beat the Cresaptown Eagles, 4-2, for a two-game sweep in the Hot Stove League championship series.

    Eddie Szymanski tripled and singled twice to knock in four runs and had the big hit in a six-run first inning to lead the Times-News to a 10-4 victory over WEPCO in Game 2 of the Rec Baseball League Championship Series Wednesday at Holler Field.

    Connor O’Rourke had three hits and Aaron O’Rourke tossed a complete game as the Times-News defeated Chessie Credit Union, 7-5, to earn a spot in the Rec League finals Friday evening at Frostburg Armory field.
