OAKLAND — Ryan Reddinger struck out 12 while allowing three hits and walking two to put WEPCO Federal Credit Union into the Rec League Playoff finals by beating Sweitzer, Simson and Associates, 5-2, Thursday to win the best-of-three series.
WEPCO took the early lead on a Jeremy Shingler solo home run in the top of the second inning, but Seth Hinebaugh countered by hitting a two-run home run in the bottom half. WEPCO tied the score in the fifth frame, and took the lead with a couple of runs in the sixth on a Thomas Holtschneider double. The fifth run was scored in the seventh.
Dan Warnick and Ben Russell each had an RBI single.
Hinebaugh added a single to his second-inning homer. SS&A; got runners to second and third in the bottom of the seventh on two singles and a passed ball, but Reddinger escaped the jam when Jamie Stowell made a diving catch on a ball back up the middle.
Nathan King and Derek Taylor combined for nine strikeouts in the loss.
WEPCO (17-1) awaits the winner of the Chessie FCU vs. Times-News series. The finals open on Monday at the Hot Stove Complex.

FROSTBURG — Corey Greig had 11 strikeouts, and Logan Harden and Blaine Leasure went deep for Chessie as it evened it’s three-game series with the Times-News with a victory Thursday night in the league semifinals.
Harden led off the fourth inning with a home run, and added an RBI single. Leasure followed Harden in the fourth with a two-run shot and had five of the team’s seven RBIs by adding two more singles. Josh Neilson finished with two singles.
Chessie (10-8) scored twice in the first inning and two more times in the third. It’s final three runs were scored in the fourth.
Mike Moyer hit two doubles and and Nick Corbett doubled in the loss.
Tristen Beyer and Aaron O’Rourke combined for seven strikeouts for Times-News.
The deciding game will be played tonight, 5:30, at Allegany College with the winner advancing to the finals.
