Police called for ‘pot’ theft - 02/26

BEDFORD, Pa. — A person whose marijuana was being stolen at gunpoint called Pennsylvania State Police for help, resulting in charges all around.

Brian Christopher Pope Jr. was with Ashley Marie Nail on Feb. 17 on Riverview Road when he is alleged to have pointed a .40-caliber handgun at Tyler Andrew Beckett, Mark Percy Scott and Jeremy Scott Lantz, police said.

One of the victims drove away and was pursued in a vehicle driven by Nail, police said. Officers were alerted and entered the chase, stopping the Nail vehicle.

Drugs, paraphernalia and the handgun were found.

Pope and Nail were taken to the Bedford County Jail on bonds of $175,000 and $100,000, respectively.

They will receive a preliminary hearing Wednesday.

Additional charges of possession with intent to deliver controlled substances will be filed against Beckett, police said.
