ROMNEY, W.Va. — A single-vehicle crash Tuesday in Hampshire County claimed the life of a Whitacre, Va., man, according to West Virginia State Police.
Hunter Crane, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene following the 3:28 p.m. crash on Smokey Hollow Road, police said.
Senior Trooper J.D. Carson reported Crane was driving a 2007 Ford Fusion northbound when the vehicle traveled out of control off the west roadway edge, struck a utility pole, rolled several times and then struck a tree.
Crane was ejected from the vehicle as a result of the crash.
The Capon Bridge Rescue Squad and fire departments from Capon Bridge, Gore and Slanesville responded along with a Hampshire County paramedic unit.
