BARTON — Alexander Metz, 22, Westernport, was charged by Allegany County Bureau of Police with driving while impaired and driving under the influence of alcohol following a 2 a.m. accident on state Route 36 Saturday that sent two people to the hospital.
Police report that Metz was driving southbound at Barton Hill when his pickup truck crossed the center line and hit a van operated by Linda Hamilton, 54, and occupied by her husband, Richard Hamilton, 52.
Tri-Towns EMS took the Hamiltons to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center with what Pfc. J.M. Dowden described as injuries that were not life-threatening.
Metz was released to family members pending trial.
