CUMBERLAND — Reports of “shots fired” in the area of the Cumberland Outdoor Club on Thomas Street were investigated by Cumberland Police with the assistance of the Maryland State Police medevac helicopter Sunday evening.
The Allegany County 911 center reported the complaint was received at about 7:30 p.m. but apparently could not be confirmed. It was not known if any projectiles actually struck the fraternal organization building located at the former site of the Cumberland Macaroni factory.
There was speculation that shots may have possibly been fired in the direction of Thomas Street from an area across the Potomac River.
Cumberland Police said no shell casings or projectiles were found during investigation of the complaint.
