MCHENRY — Accidents in the Finzel and Grantsville areas Tuesday sent two people to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, according to Maryland State Police.
At 2:42 p.m., Jason Guerette, 22, of Jersey City, N.J., was injured when his vehicle struck the rear of a vehicle on westbound Interstate 68 being driven by Tammy Humberson, 54, of Friendsville.
Police said Humberson slowed her vehicle due to the presence of emergency vehicles responding to a previous crash when she was struck from behind by the Guerette vehicle.
Guerette was taken to the Cumberland hospital and was cited for failure to control speed to avoid a collision.
Humberson apparently escaped injuries.
At about 7:30 p.m., an accident on eastbound I-68 east of state Route 495 injured Eseosa Imarhiagbe, 41, of Gwynn Oak. She was taken to the Cumberland hospital.
Police said Imarhiagbe was driving a 1999 Nissan Quest when she lost control and struck the guardrail.
