CUMBERLAND — A city woman wanted on four bench warrants by the Cumberland Police Department Warrant Squad was arrested Monday despite her alleged efforts to resist arrest and the action of another occupant of the residence who allegedly interfered with the arrest.
Mary Carol Miller, 38, was charged with resisting arrest and three counts of assault on a police officer following the 7:38 p.m. incident at a Virginia Avenue residence.
She was served with four bench warrants for failure to appear in court on various charges.
Roy Eugene Hillegass, 43, was charged with obstructing and hindering police, interfering with an arrest, resisting arrest and two counts of assault on a police officer.
Following bond hearings, Miller was jailed on $10,400 bond while Hillegass was jailed at the Allegany County Detention Center on $3,000 bail.
Police said officers took Miller into custody after they found her hiding in a closet. She allegedly hit and kicked officers several times and Hillegass allegedly pushed the arresting officers.
