11/24/09 - Vacant gas station damaged by fire
BARTON — Fire of an undetermined origin damaged the former Shaw’s gas station property at 18325 Lower Georges Creek Road on Monday.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is continuing to investigate the fire that was discovered at 6:34 a.m. by a passing motorist.
The fire originated in front of the building and caused damages estimated at $600, according to Deputy State Fire Marshal Jamie Rodeheaver.
Barton Volunteer Fire Company responded with 12 volunteers.
Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call the fire marshal’s office at (877) 890-0199.

OAKLAND — Theft of numerous items from 10 vehicles in the Deer Park area in July and August are under investigation by the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office.
